Update: Nintendo of America is on board as well. Here’s their response:
“If you are experiencing this issue, we are able to resolve it by fixing your save data. For instructions on how to set up a repair by sending us your save file on an SD card, or for other options, please call 1-800-255-3700. Representatives are available from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (PST) seven days a week.”
A couple of weeks ago, we reported that a number of Metroid: Other M players were experiencing a game-breaking door glitch bug. At the time, it seemed as though Nintendo would not be coming up with a fix for the issue. While that still appears to be the case in North America, the company does have a plan for Japan.
Players who send in an SD card with their save files or the Wii itself to Nintendo’s service center in Uji will be able to overcome the bug. Nintendo will cost the cover of shipping, though it was stated in an official release that one week will be needed to fix the game. No downloadable patch has been announced, so consumers only have two options: send in the necessary save file or restart the game. We’ll let you know if Nintendo has similar plans for other territories.
