Completely unsurprising Wiimote with MotionPlus built in outed by GameStop

Wow! What a shock! GameStop, as they are wont to do with new products and kit, has inadvertently outed an all-in-one Wiimote/MotionPlus combo controller with their listing for the sure-fire sleeper hit of the holiday season, FlingSmash.

Looks like the new controller is going to be bundled in with this game (and probably many others) sometime in early November.

And, since it’s going to inevitably happen, I’ll cut it off right here: No, Nintendo shouldn’t have “had this packed in with the Wii back in 2006.” If you know anything about prices and technology and Nintendo’s low-cost, all inclusive, make-a-profit-from-day-one strategy, an all-inclusive Wiimote on day one back in 2006 would have priced the Wii out of the mainstream’s hands and cut into Nintendo’s profits. Lose-lose.

But it’s still ok for us to claim any sales will come from having a controller in the box like with Wii Play right?

And coming Q1 2011… Wii Remote Plus SUPER – featuring EVEN BETTER motion accuracy and at only 30cm long! Yawn. Motion control novelty has completely worn off, pass me that control pad.
